Our educational programs

At LFIW, we offer a structured curriculum in several cycles, from kindergarten to sixth grade, following the official programs of the French National Education system and Manitoba. Each level is designed to promote the overall development of the student through teaching methods adapted to their age and needs.

Preschool from age 5 ( cycle 1)

Preschool: a key stage in a child's development

Kindergarten is a crucial time to spark curiosity and lay the foundation for future learning. Our program combines French and Manitoban approaches, offering children the best of both educational systems.

Our main areas of focus:

  • Awakening of the senses and curiosity: Through fun activities adapted to their age, children discover the world around them, develop their fine and gross motor skills, as well as their language.

  • Learning to live together: Children learn to interact with their peers, to share, cooperate and respect the rules of community life.

  • Language acquisition and early school concepts: The French curriculum emphasizes oral expression, reading, and writing from kindergarten onward, while the Manitoba curriculum introduces mathematical and scientific concepts in a practical and playful way. Artistic, musical, and manual activities help to strengthen creativity and motor skills.

  • Bilingualism: From a very young age, children are exposed to French and English in natural and stimulating situations, promoting the development of dual language skills from kindergarten onwards.

  • A comprehensive and balanced approach: By combining the standards of both educational systems, each child benefits from a path tailored to their needs, harmoniously preparing their transition to primary school while developing autonomy and self-confidence.

Elementary school: consolidating, exploring, growing

Elementary school is a crucial stage where students consolidate their learning while exploring new knowledge in all subjects. Our program combines French and Manitoban standards, offering a comprehensive and balanced academic experience.

Our main areas of focus:

  • Acquisition of fundamental skills: Students deepen their mastery of French and English, explore mathematics, science, history and geography, the arts, and physical education. The Manitoba program emphasizes critical thinking and practical skills, while the French program reinforces rigor and written and oral expression.

  • Developing autonomy: Each student is encouraged to become independent in their learning, to take initiative and to collaborate with their peers to progress together.

  • Enrichment of bilingualism: English and French are taught in an integrated and progressive manner, ensuring a solid mastery of both languages and preparing students for multicultural exchanges.

  • Awakening to the arts and culture: Artistic, musical and cultural projects stimulate creativity, personal expression and cultural sensitivity.

  • Additional activities: Educational outings, science workshops, sporting events and collaborative projects enrich the school experience and promote the overall development of each child.
